ISLA MUJERES - THE HIDDEN JEWEL IN THE CARIBBEAN
If you've never been to Isla Mujeres, you are in for a rare treat! This little slice of paradise still has the quaintness of its past life as a fishing village. The north end of the island, El Centro, is where you'll find most of the hotels, gourmet restaurants, bars, and shopping. That's also where you'll find Playa Norte, the beautiful, white sand beach, voted one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world. The locals have adapted to and welcomed the small but lucrative tourist industry here, and are warm and friendly. Even though the island is only 4.5 miles long, and 1/2 mile wide, a 15 minute walk south, and you're away from the tourists, and hustle and bustle. The main modes of transportation are golf carts and scooters. There are also buses that go around the island for 20 pesos ($1USD).
Shanti Del Mar is just south and outside of El Centro, the downtown area. Most islanders think of our neighborhood as the most desirable neighborhood on the island. You are close enough to walk to, or take a 6 minute taxi ride to, the beaches and night life. You're also across the street from your own semi-private beach. Many prefer to walk south another 15 minutes to the more subdued mid-island and find trendy local restaurants, little markets, and grandma and grandpa taquerias. But most, after a day or two of the beach and shopping, find themselves just chilling in the privacy of your own yard and secluded pool, with a beer, or a pitcher of margaritas. How about homemade guacamole and chips, as our private chef creates an authentic Mexican dinner for you, your family, and friends. Maybe serve it on the upstairs veranda, candle lit style, overlooking the crashing waves of the Caribbean Sea? Shhh... make it a surprise.
